The Superintendent shared several upcoming community and student events:
  • A community forum will be held this Thursday from 5:30–6:30 PM at the Oak Park Community Center for families living near 36th Street. The forum will focus on updates to transportation services to and from Georgia Brown. Spanish and Mixteco interpretation will be provided.
  • The community is invited to attend Seussical Kids at Paso Robles High School on Friday and Saturday, February 20–21. The 30-minute production is especially well-suited for younger audiences, and all lower elementary students will attend performances during the school day over the next two weeks.
  • Families are encouraged to mark their calendars for the Black History Celebration, organized by the PRHS Black Student Union, taking place Saturday, February 28 from 12–4 PM at Paso Robles High School.

School Spotlight: Georgia Brown Dual Immersion

The Board received a school site presentation from Principal Cristina Velasco, and student leaders Arianna, LaiLani, Itzel, Teaghan, and Fatima highlighting the continued success of the Georgia Brown Dual Immersion program.

Georgia Brown remains active in the Paso Robles community, participating in local parades, hosting Oranges with Officers and Career Day, welcoming firefighter safety presentations, and leading a canned food drive that collected 1,500 cans for families in need. Students also participate in elementary athletics to build school spirit and connection.

Family engagement remains strong through Back to School Night, Fiesta de Octubre, Literacy Night, STEAM Night, and the 7th Grade Dance. Upcoming events include:
  • Read Across America Week: March 2–6
  • Talent Show: April 24
  • Open House: May 21
Principal Velasco also celebrated the Robotics Club’s outstanding first season. Georgia Brown's Robotics Teams earned all six VEX Robotics awards—the only school in San Luis Obispo or Santa Barbara County to do so. Both teams qualified for the Southern California Championships in March, and the elementary team is currently ranked 770th out of more than 10,000 teams worldwide.

ELAC families were highlighted as 45 students prepare to celebrate reclassification on May 7!

Lastly, the new playground remains on track for completion February 24.

Early Middle College Design for PRHS

The Board received an informational presentation from Megan Cannon, College and Career Coordinator, outlining the design of an Early College program for Paso Robles High School. In addition to dual enrolled courses, this program would allow students to earn high school and college credit simultaneously through structured pathways, including CTE-aligned options and general education tracks. The presentation highlighted increased college completion likelihood, and a phased implementation beginning in the 2026–27 school year.
