✨ Celebrating Our Incredible Volunteers! April went out with a bang, and we have so many people to thank! We want to share a huge, heartfelt thank you to every single one of our school volunteers who give their time throughout the year. It was such a joy to celebrate you at our Volunteer Tea; while it’s just a small token of our appreciation, please know that your impact on our school is massive. We truly couldn’t do this without you! 🫖🎉

💃 A Week Full of Rhythm!
Dance Week was an absolute blast and ended with such high energy! Thank you to all the families who joined us on Friday to watch the student showcases throughout the day—the joy in the room was contagious. It was truly a fun day for everyone involved! 🎶

🪩 Party of the Year!
In addition to our showcase week, our 6th and 7th Grade Dance was a total hit! A massive thank you to the PTO and all the volunteers who contributed to making the evening so successful. The students were dancing from start to finish—we practically had to force them out the door at the end of the night! Thank you for giving our students such a fun, memorable experience. 🕺✨

🍏 Show the Love: Staff Appreciation Week
This week is Staff Appreciation Week, and it’s the perfect time to celebrate the hardworking educators and staff who support our students every day. If you’d like to get involved or show your thanks, please check the PTO section below for specific ways you can participate and help make this week extra special for our team. 📝❤️

🚲 Reminders & Looking Ahead
  • May 6th: Get ready to Walk, Bike, and Roll to School! Let’s see those bikes, scooters, and walking shoes in action. 🚲
  • Testing: We are still in the swing of CAASPP testing. Thank you for ensuring your students get plenty of rest and arrive on time, ready to show what they know! 🧠💪
Thank you for being such an active and supportive part of our school family!

🎉 End of the Year Celebrations
The end of the school year is approaching fast! You will soon begin hearing from teachers regarding end-of-year trips and classroom celebrations.
To ensure you can join in the fun, please take note of our Volunteer Requirements:
  • Volunteer Packet: If you would like to participate as a volunteer in any celebrations (on or off campus), you must submit your volunteer packet. Please do this soon; you will not be allowed on campus or to go on field trips without an approved application.
  • Fingerprinting: Field trip volunteers are required to be fingerprinted.
  • Already fingerprinted? Wonderful! You don't need to do it again, but you still need to submit a fresh volunteer application for this year.
Pro Tip: Don't wait! Clearance can take time, so submit your paperwork soon to ensure you don't miss out on the end-of-year festivities.
Absences
If your student is absent, please report it to the office within three days, otherwise they are considered truant. You can report your student's absence by:
  • Google Voice TEXT ONLY (805) 769-4596
  • Emailing: gb-attendance@pasoschools.org
  • Calling our Office at (805)769-1200

Student Pick Up
Please ensure that you ALWAYS bring your ID in when checking out a student. If someone other than a parent will be picking up the student, please call ahead to inform us. Please make sure the designated person brings their ID and is listed in Aeries contact list prior to arrival. Only individuals on the contact list will be allowed to pick up a student, and they must be 18 years or older. We will NOT call a student up before you arrive. Thank you for your cooperation

For auditing purposes, please ensure that the sign-out sheet is fully completed. Please read the sheet carefully and include the student's first and last name, grade, time, reason for leaving, and your signature.

Walk, Bike, Roll to School Day on May 6

May 6th is Walk, Bike, Roll to School Day! We invite all students to show off their style by decorating their bikes or scooters for our big day—whether it's streamers, stickers, or signs, let your creativity shine as we roll to school together. Just remember that safety is the top priority, so be sure to wear your helmet and keep it fastened tight for the ride! If you live too far away to commute by foot or pedals, you can still participate by parking a few blocks down the street and walking the rest of the way with your child. It’s a great way to ensure everyone gets some morning movement and enjoys the community spirit before the school bell rings!

Teacher Appreciation Week- Door Decorations
Teacher Appreciation Week is coming up May 4th - May 8th. Each year at Georgia Brown, we have a tradition of decorating our staff and teachers' doors. Please sign up below to decorate a door or two. Please consider decorating a door for a prior teacher or other staff members who work with your students. We have a lot of wonderful staff to honor and celebrate!

Ms. Cagliero is happy to help assist you with supplying the butcher paper and construction paper you might want. We have many rolls of many colors of butcher paper for you to choose from. They are available in the staff lounge or by contacting Ms. Cagliero. You are welcome to use your own supplies as well. Please hang the door decorations on Tuesday May 5th, before school starts (6:30am-7:30am). PTO will supply the tape to hang the decorations.

For ideas and inspiration, you can Google "teacher door decoration". Please email any questions to tcagliero@pasoschools.org

We will also be hosting a PTO luncheon for teachers on May 6th and our famous coffee cart on May 8th. Separate sign-ups for those days will be going out in separate parent square notifications.

🍎 Our PTO has some awesome plans, and we need your help!

Check out the calendar above to see how you can participate. Yellow arrows mean families can join in on the fun. If you want to volunteer, head over to ParentSquare.

We appreciate our amazing teachers and staff at Georgia Brown 🐯 - let's show them some love!
