This week in Paso Schools
Dear Paso Schools families,

With summer vacation just around the corner, this week we're focusing on summer opportunities for students of all ages.

Did you know Paso Schools is offering free summer childcare programs for students in Transitional Kindergarten through 8th grade? These programs provide full-day care and enrichment opportunities throughout the summer, keeping students engaged, active, and connected outside the school year. Visit our website to learn more about summer childcare options on Paso Schools campuses, and with our partners at the Boys & Girls Club. (Please note that summer care at Winifred Pifer is full, but families can add themselves to the waitlist in the event that spots open up.)

For students grades 7-12, summer school opportunities are available. Visit our website to learn about available summer school classes, and contact your school secretary at your earliest convenience to enroll.

Students grades 7-11 who could use dedicated algebra support are eligible to attend the new Summer Algebra Institute:
  • The Summer Algebra Institute is a five-week academic enrichment program for students grades 7 and above, designed to strengthen algebra skills and prepare students for college success.
  • The Institute will provide students with targeted instruction in mathematics and quantitative reasoning, paired with hands-on, real-world learning experiences and exposure to college pathways.
  • In addition to focused math instruction, students will engage in a variety of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) activities designed to bring math concepts to life. These may include coding, drone programming, and other applied learning experiences that connect classroom concepts to real-world applications.
  • The program also emphasizes college and career readiness. Students will participate in college knowledge workshops and have the opportunity to visit a CSU campus, giving them a firsthand look at academic programs, student life, and the resources available to support their future success.
