We have officially completed our first full week of school, and it has been an absolute success. Your students have done an incredible job jumping right into their routines, connecting with teachers, and bringing great energy to the classroom every day. We are so proud of how well they’ve settled in and can't wait to see all they accomplish this year. Thank you for raising such amazing Tigers!

Student Transportation Device Safety Reminder

In response to the growing use of personal transportation devices by students, and as part of our ongoing efforts to keep our campuses safe, we would like to remind families of the expectations that apply at all PRJUSD schools. Students who ride a bicycle, scooter, e-bike, e-scooter, skateboard, or roller skates to school are expected to follow all applicable laws and safety requirements. This includes rules related to speed, age, licensing, equipment, and the use of a properly fitted and fastened bicycle helmet.

Personal transportation devices that do not meet legal requirements for use on public roads or paths may not be permitted on school campuses. Please remember that school parking lots are also considered part of the school campus. For everyone’s safety, students may not ride personal transportation devices on campus during the school day. Once they arrive on campus, students should walk their device to the designated parking area and securely lock or store it.

We have successfully launched the school year by establishing structure and expectations across all grade levels through our three safety assemblies. We will conclude with the final TK assembly on Monday. During these sessions, we covered essential topics, including dress code, cell phone policy, bullying, harassment, and campus expectations. As we begin the new school year, we want to share an important update regarding classroom celebrations, including birthdays.

To ensure a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment for all students, food items—including cupcakes, cakes, and other snacks—will no longer be permitted in the classroom for celebrations.

Many of our students have food allergies, specific dietary restrictions, or religious practices regarding food.

We still love recognizing our students on their special days! We encourage you to celebrate your child using non-food alternatives. Some great ideas include:

Please note that if food items are brought to school for classroom distribution, they cannot be brought into the building and will need to be passed out off school grounds after school hours.

There are important changes to our early student check-out procedures effective this school year.

Verbal permission for early check-outs is no longer permitted. To authorize anyone to pick up your child early, you must provide one of the following:

Please note that this requirement applies to all individuals picking up your student, regardless of whether they are listed on your emergency contact form.

Additionally, we ask that all individuals picking up students bring a valid ID with them. There are no exceptions to this policy. If you have authorized someone to pick up your child, please inform them of this requirement in advance.

As a reminder, emergency contacts are designated for the school to contact only if parents or guardians cannot be reached. They serve a different purpose than early check-out authorization.

To volunteer this school year, please submit a volunteer packet through Informed K-12. If you have already been fingerprinted, you will not need to be fingerprinted again. However, please note that fingerprinting is required for all field trip volunteers.

This training is required for all volunteers this year and can be completed online, the link is included in the volunteer packet online. Please note that only the district certificate will be accepted.

On the day of any field trip, please remember to bring your ID and sign in at the front office before departure.

We are pleased to announce that the Lions Club Mobile Vision Trailer will be at our school on August 28th to perform student vision screenings. Vision screenings are a wonderful way to help ensure our students can see clearly and succeed in the classroom!

If you have any questions or concerns regarding the screening, please contact the front office.
