We have one open parent representative position on our School Site Council (SSC) for the upcoming school year. The SSC collaborates with school staff to review academic programs, plan improvements, and help allocate resources.

We are thrilled to announce that we now have an Athletic Director in place and are officially preparing to kick off our Cross Country season!

Our 4th–6th grade student-athletes are eager to start practicing and competing in meets as soon as possible. However, in order to make this season happen, we need coaches.

If you are passionate about running, working with youth, or simply want to support our student-athletes, we would love to have you on board! Prior coaching experience is welcomed but not required. 

Enthusiasm and commitment are what matter most.

Protecting our school community and keeping our students healthy and in class is a top priority. To help reduce flu-related absences this season, we are offering two free flu vaccine clinics open to all PRJUSD families for anyone ages 3 and older:

Both clinics are completely free of charge, regardless of which campus your child normally attends. We encourage all interested families to take advantage of these convenient opportunities!

September is Suicide Prevention Month, and according to the CDC, suicide is the second leading cause of death for individuals between the ages of 15 and 34. Suicide can be prevented when we acknowledge the signs, create and maintain open lines of honest and supportive communication, and seek help from mental health professionals. Please take a few minutes to review the resources and additional information below. 

Paso Robles Joint Unified School District is committed to reducing the possibility of suicide among our students through education and intervention, and we approach this in many ways, including:

If you suspect someone you care about is considering suicide, please reach out for help. You can call 988 or any local agencies linked below for support.  If it is a PRJUSD student, please contact a school counselor, school psychologist, or mental health provider at that student’s school site for support or reach out to Student Services at 805-769-1000.

Below you will find additional resources to equip and support both adults and students—all of which are free for California families—as well as an attachment with local community resources. We encourage you to share these resources with any families you know who might benefit from additional support.

The new Paso Robles Youth Sports Clinics are giving Paso Schools students in grades 4–8 more opportunities to learn, play, and build their skills in beach volleyball, basketball, and water polo.

Sponsored by a JUSTIN Community Grant in partnership with Paso Robles Joint Unified School District, the clinics will bring experienced local coaches and organizations to PRHS athletic facilities, making high-quality instruction available close to home. The program is focused on reducing financial and geographic barriers while helping young athletes build skills, confidence, teamwork, and resilience.

Fall clinics include:

🏐 Beach Volleyball (Only a few spots remaining!)

Wednesdays, September 16, 23 & 30

6:00–7:30 p.m. at the PRHS Beach Volleyball Courts (800 Niblick Rd.)

🏀 Basketball

Sundays, October 11–November 15

3:30–5:00 p.m. at PRHS Gil Asa Gymnasium

Clinics are open to all PRJUSD students in grades 4–8, and scholarships are available for eligible students. Space is limited—beach volleyball is nearly full—so families interested in volleyball or basketball are encouraged to register early.

As part of our commitment to supporting your child’s overall growth and well-being, students in grades 3 through 12 will be participating in the upcoming Waypoints Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) Assessment. This short assessment helps us better understand our students' strengths and areas where we can offer additional support to help them thrive both academically and personally.

Participation is encouraged, but if you do not wish for your child to take part in the assessment, please complete and return the [Waypoints Opt Out Form] to your school's front office before the testing window opens so our site secretaries can update your child's record.

Off to a Great Start! It has been wonderful seeing our students return with so much energy! We are off to a fantastic start this school year, and we want to keep this momentum going. As routines settle, here is a quick reminder of how much regular attendance counts. Did you know that missing just 2 days of school a month... * Adds up to 18 days a year—that is 10% of the entire school year lost. * Makes reading harder, especially for kindergarteners and 1st graders trying to reach grade-level milestones. * Creates learning gaps that can leave students feeling stressed and overwhelmed when catching up. Every day builds confidence, strong friendships, and key academic skills. Thank you for partnering with us to make daily attendance a priority—let’s keep up the great work! 

There are important changes to our early student check-out procedures effective this school year.

Verbal permission for early check-outs is no longer permitted. To authorize anyone to pick up your child early, you must provide one of the following:

Please note that this requirement applies to all individuals picking up your student, regardless of whether they are listed on your emergency contact form.

Additionally, we ask that all individuals picking up students bring a valid ID with them. There are no exceptions to this policy. If you have authorized someone to pick up your child, please inform them of this requirement in advance.

As a reminder, emergency contacts are designated for the school to contact only if parents or guardians cannot be reached. They serve a different purpose than early check-out authorization.

To volunteer this school year, please submit a volunteer packet through Informed K-12. If you have already been fingerprinted, you will not need to be fingerprinted again. However, please note that fingerprinting is required for all field trip volunteers.

On the day of any field trip, please remember to bring your ID and sign in at the front office before departure.

As we begin the new school year, we want to share an important update regarding classroom celebrations, including birthdays.

To ensure a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment for all students, food items—including cupcakes, cakes, and other snacks—will no longer be permitted in the classroom for celebrations.

Many of our students have food allergies, specific dietary restrictions, or religious practices regarding food.

We still love recognizing our students on their special days! We encourage you to celebrate your child using non-food alternatives. Some great ideas include:

Please note that if food items are brought to school for classroom distribution, they cannot be brought into the building and will need to be passed out off school grounds after school hours.

This week, Kindergarten, 4th and 5th grade will have their first Tier 1 classroom lesson and the focus will be on healthy coping strategies when experiencing big feelings. 

We completed 7th and 8th grade lessons and students were introduced to a counseling google classroom where we will continue to post resources throughout the year. This is also where students can access the google form to request to see their counselor.
